Gear as beautiful as the place you adventure

Hey hello hi! I'm Julianne (she/her) and I'm the founder of Wild Brush (formerly Dirt Chalk Bags).

Originally from Maryland, I started Dirt Bags my senior year of college at Florida State University out of the desire for just a really pretty chalk bag. Seven years and 9 moves later, Wild Brush is now based in Durango, CO...permanently at least for now? maybe? I think?

As an avid aggressively average outdoor enthusiast, I let my passion guide what I sew. If I'm really into biking one month, you'll see a big drop of bike bags and hip packs. When I start getting stoked on hiking in the warm months, snack bags and backpacks will explode all over the site. My current love of trail running has shown up with the obsession of designing my dream running vest.

Everything we make is handmade with love- and sometimes frustration (if you've ever sewn, you know)- right here in our studio. Every piece of art was beautifully designed by a variety of extremely talented artists, credited in the description of each product, who directly receive 15% of each sale.

I firmly believe gear is more than gear. Gear can inspire us to explore further. To remind us of our favorite places or the things that make us smile. To feel safe and confident being ourselves wherever we roam. To show up as we are everyday and let those around us love us for that. You are unique- we all are- and you deserve gear that highlights that.

Sustainability

Sustainability is the life blood of Wild Brush. Which might sound contradictory; why create new things when so much is ending up in the landfill already? Well a lot of those things aren't being created thoughtfully. They're not designed to fit properly or last long-term. Our gear is created using almost entirely post-consumer recycled materials and shipped using post-consumer recycled packaging! Though our small batch production still impacts (because everything does), our gear is designed to withstand heavy use. Our lifetime warranty ensures you can mail it back in for repairs whenever you need and you can send it back to us when it's time to be laid to rest for recycling.

Equity & Impact

Gear is more than gear, I'll say that 1,000 times. Art is more than art. It can be a platform for change and social justice. Outside of sharing voices, information, and gatherings on social media to champion causes I firmly believe in ranging from dismantling the system of white supremacy to protecting the environment, my main goal of 2025 is to find a way to support these causes financially too. I'm working with my artists to choose a variety of nonprofit organizations to donate 10% of profits to. Helping defend the places we love, support black, indigenous, and POC creatives, and outdoor organization.
